Jackson Kinsler Feature:
On Syracuse's ice hockey beat, I profiled forward Jackson Kinsler and her transfer from Boston University to Syracuse. I spoke with her parents, SU associate coach Heather Farrell, and Jackson herself. After playing sparingly at BU, Kinsler blossomed into a top scorer for the Orange last season.
Ava Drabyk Feature:
Ava Drabyk had major shoes to fill coming into the 2025-26 season. Allie Kelley, Syracuse ice hockey's goalie from 2023-25 and the NCAA all-time saves leader, graduated. But even as a freshman, Drabyk flourished. I wrote a feature on her early ascendence and how playing for Team Canada helped expose her to competitive college hockey.
Aubrey Turner Feature:
For my final story as a field hockey beat writer last fall, I profiled freshman phenom Aubrey Turner and her rise to stardom at Syracuse. Turner initially committed to Maryland, but outgrew her commitment and is blossoming with SU.
Sally Rutherford Feature:
For my first feature on the Field Hockey beat last fall, I wrote about assistant coach Sally Rutherford's transition from playing to coaching. After playing on New Zealand's national team, she followed associate head coach Sam Brown's footsteps and is currently working with SU's goalies, such as Tane King.
