For my intro to graphic design class at Syracuse University, I made a social media post using Adobe Photoshop and Express on college football's transfer portal. With strong attention to Gestalt Theory and spacing, I created seven slides showing what the portal and its impact are.
One of the main components of this project was including motion. To showcase former Syracuse running back Yasin Willis unloyalty after his transfer to Kansas, I used Adobe Express to have him stiff-arm the Syracuse logo and have the arrow point to the NCAA.
Later in the post, I used express again for my infographic, where I took pngs of footballs off adobe stock and represented the transfer portal's growth with them. This took many rounds of trial and error, but enhanced my knowledge of motion and visual interaction.
The main thing I learned by doing this project is that less is often more in design. Attention spans are very short, and by having too much text on each page, readers can zone out quickly. Therefore, I prioritized letting the motion and visuals tell the story for me and included minimal text.
